Competition Swimming Suits
For many people who make aquatic sports their main hobby or even their living there are many professional swimming suits that aid with their performance in the water. Competition swimming suits are designed for both men and women to allow them to travel faster and easier through the water. To do this the swimwear is often tightly fitted to contour the shape of the body and act as an extra layer of skin. However, because men and women have such different bodies there are competition suits designed for both men and women. Additionally there are unisex suits that can be worn by both men and women in some competitive sports.
Women’s competition swimming suits actually look a lot like traditional women’s swimming suits. Most often they are made in the one piece style and they tightly hug the swimmers torso and upper body. More often than not these swimming suits are made with chlorine resistant materials so that they are durable and able to withstand constant exposure to chlorine. Other competitive suits for woman are more of a body-suit style. They are, again, made in one piece; however they cover most of the arms and legs as well as the torso. Many women choose to use the first option of suit because the are able to be more flexible and the body suit can restrict movement. However because the body suit covers more of the body it is able to make the body smoother which greatly aids in swimming through the water.
Men’s competition swimming suits don’t look like traditional men’s swimming trunks. Because competitive swimmers need to be able to glide through the water their swimming suits need to be extremely tight fitting. Swimming trunks are loose fitting and would actually make it harder for professional swimmers to travel through the water. Most men wear small, underwear like, garment that is made of chlorine resistant material. However there are also men who prefer to wear the body suit style garment that covers from wrists to ankles. As with women, body suits allow men to travel quickly through the water because the suit makes their body’s smooth.
